It's no secret the Billie Eilish is prepping her third album ā she's been teasing it for more than a year and in February announced it was mastered (read: done) ā but she hasn't officially announced it...yet.
That big news might be coming soon, as fans around the world have spotted mysterious billboards popping up in cities like Los Angeles, New York City, London, England and Sydney, Australia. Though the signs don't directly mention the singer, there are some major clues that have convinced sleuthing fans that they're teasing the new album. The biggest is the appearance of Eilish's famous blohsh symbol, alongside what look like lyric snippets in a shade of blue that the star just so happened to make her social media profile picture.
The billboards feature a variety of lines including āDid I cross the line?,ā āI try to live in black and white, but I'm so blueā and āSheās the headlights Iām the deer.ā
This album will be the follow-up to 2021's Happier Than Ever. See some of the billboards below.
Over the past year, Eilish andĀ FINNEASĀ have opened up aboutĀ the challenges they faced while making this album. āI donāt think Billie was particularly sure about how she actually felt about the things we were trying to write about," FINNEAS explained in an interview late last year. āMaking a thing that you feel really connected to ā it can really evade you.ā
He also admitted that his songwriting "got a little rusty" after spending so much time on the road both with Eilish and as a solo artist. āAnd that was scary,ā he confessed. āIt was discouraging to realize that if I take time off, my songwriting muscle atrophies. I had to get back in shape.ā
Over the summer, Eilish opened up aboutĀ how the creative process was differentĀ this time around.
āEverything is different about it,ā she admitted of the music making process. āIāve been trying to compare recently, just because Iām getting used to doing it in a different way. And trying to be like, āItās OK to do that. Iām OK. Iām still able to do that; Iām capable still.āā
āAnd, you know, touring for a year-and-a-half, then coming back to it, and being way older ā and not even much older, but again, the jump between 18 and 21 is a big jump," Eilish added. "Just mentally and physically, and realistically. Itās just been completely different.ā
The singer also explained what exactly changed. āThe way that I exist in the room is different, my voice has completely changed since thenā¦The voice-changing thing is a trip! Itās all kind of shocking,ā she said. āIāve gotten a little bit more like, āOK, itās just change and Iām figuring that out.ā Itās hard to accept change, itās hard to get over, āBut I did it this way for so long, and it worked so well!ā Well, you canāt anymore.ā
