Bad Bunny successfully took center stage for his historic performance in the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Sunday (February 8), but how much did he get paid?

According to E! News, Bad Bunny did not get paid for his set during the halftime of the 2026 Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. While this may be surprising to some, it is actually not a new policy, with artists gaining exposure instead of a typical performance fee. However, they are paid a minimum, union-required fee for labor that equates to around $1,000 a day per SAG-AFTRA's most recent contract, People reports.

An NFL spokesperson told Forbes in 2016 that the league doesn't pay artists but instead covers "expenses and production costs," while entertainment attorney Lori Landew told Forbes in 2019 that artists view the performance as a way to entertain viewers rather than receive a large paycheck.

"The halftime show at the Super Bowl remains a highly coveted spot for many artists," Landew said. "Some of those artists do not see their appearance as a political statement, nor do they see the show as a cultural battleground, but rather view their live performance as an opportunity to entertain an enthusiastic crowd and to share their music and their talent with millions of viewers."

Past artists who have performed in the Super Bowl Halftime Show include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Coldplay and Kendrick Lamar, among others, as well as Lady Gaga, who joined Bad Bunny for a surprise performance during his set.
